Getting started

New digital color printing technology has created a long list of new materials and techniques for producing signs, posters and banners. This list can be daunting, but by asking yourself a few simple questions, you can make your decisions a little easier:

  • How long will your piece be used?
  • Where will the piece be displayed – inside or outside?
  • What is your budget?

To simplify your life even more, consult our sign experts at Allegra. We know what questions to ask in order to maximize the impact of your messages, while staying within your budget.

Big time color

Get the attention your message deserves by adding color. For the greatest impact, consider using a high-contrast color combination.

The Big Picture

When it comes to adding interest, full-color photos and graphics can work magic – as long as you use the correct resolution. For example:
• When viewing an image from far away (billboards, outdoor signs), a resolution of 75 dpi is recommended.
• Viewing from two to five feet away (floor graphics, posters with photos), 150 dpi is recommended.
• Viewing up close, less than two feet (maps, type that is smaller than 14 pt), resolution goes up to 300 dpi.

The sky’s the limit.

Full-color signs, posters and banners can go a long way to attract attention and pique interest in a variety of settings, including:

  • Point of purchase or sale displays
  • Trade shows and exhibits
  • Meetings, conferences and conventions
  • Fundraisers and rallies
  • Milestone celebrations and events
  • Staff recognition and morale boosters
  • Training programs and workshops
  • Office signage to reinforce company messages
  • Window and floor graphics
  • Informational or safety graphics
  • Vehicle graphics
